VISION STATEMENT

We believe God’s vision for ALL believers at Greenmount is to be Spirit led in the study of God’s word and prayer, in spiritual maturation, and in purposefully discipling others as we seek to be living examples of Jesus to the world.

God's Vision

As Christians and the church, if we rely on anyone other than God to define our vision for the future we have missed the mark.  Following Jesus means He gets to decide the direction, not us.

Proverbs 28:16, Matthew 16:24, John 8:12, John 10:27

ALL Believers at Greenmount

Our call to gather is about serving each other, not our own selfish desires.  Each one is brought and gifted by God to serve one another together and bring glory to God.  We each have weight to hold, we all need to be active and engaged in our love for Jesus our Savior.  This vision is not just for some but all who claim Jesus at Greenmount.

Be Spirit Led

Without God's drawing, God's conviction, God's strength and power, God's guidance; we cannot accomplish anything of spiritual value.  Understanding every part of this statement is dependent on our partnership with God's Spirit.

Psalm 143:10, John 15:4-5, Matthew 4:4, Romans 8:14

Studying God's Word and Praying

From creation we see God desiring relationship with humans.  From walks in the garden, words to the prophets, life with Jesus, and now the Spirit working through the Word and our prayers we long to know God better.

Spiritually Maturing

Just as we grow physically, mentally, and emotionally God has called us to spiritual maturation as well.  God's word to us is like milk for an infant, through His power we grow.  We will not reach the end of our journey here in this life, but we live out what we know and understand and look to know and receive more.

1 Peter 2:2-3, 1 Corinthians 3:1-3, Ephesians 2:19-22, Ephesians 4:2-3,14-16 , Philippians 1:12-16

Purposefully Discipling

Spiritual growth is seen through the modeled relationship of Jesus with His disciples.  Close intimate relationships sharing ups and downs, joys and sorrows, struggles and success.  Jesus last word to his followers was to make disciples, through identifying in Jesus, growing through knowledge and obedience, and living in the presence of Jesus.  We as followers should desire these close relationships centered on Jesus.

Seeking to be Living Examples of Jesus to the World

Those who follow Jesus are called to be lights to the world, to the community we live in and beyond.  We share with those around us God's work in the world and in our lives, we are witnesses.  We share our love by sharing God's love, the good news of Jesus.
